The availability of freshwater is progressively diminishing on a global scale. Predictions indicate that the worldwide water demand could surge by 40% by 2025. Addressing this challenge could involve monitoring the well-being of water purifiers through sensor-based methods and anticipatory techniques, ultimately contributing to a resolution. Employing sensors to transmit data to AWS IoT, we established an intricate system of triggers and rules that played a pivotal role in realizing this solution.
A waste management customer based in the UK encountered an issue wherein their trucks were dispatched to collect waste from large corporate bins. However, when these bins turned out to be empty, the trucks had to return without any load. To alleviate the inefficiencies stemming from these empty trips, we devised a remedy. We implemented ultrasonic sensors atop the bins to measure their fill levels, and the recorded percentages were transmitted to AWS IoT. Within this setup, a rule was established; whenever the bin's fill level exceeded 90%, a ticket was automatically generated in Salesforce. This ticketing system empowered the client's administrators to effectively monitor and manage the waste collection process, ultimately optimizing the truck dispatching process.
Utilizing a Fitbit watch, health data of users was monitored, and from this data, we computed a health score. This score played a pivotal role in our client's determination of insurance premium rates. Individuals exhibiting better fitness levels were eligible for reduced premium amounts, reflecting a direct correlation between physical well-being and insurance costs.
